The ever ready stopwatch smile,
Is but a frown,
turned upside down,
Held constant an inside out world,
A much accomplished, tasteless feat,
All when they meet,
Not much to greet,
to keep distance, are handshakes hurled.
The place is here, the time is now,
not much to say, yet said and how,
In the taut and tensile warp of time,
Nibbling, nibbling, go the mice,
overjoyed at their petty crimes,
Giggling, giggling, go the mice.
And while the rest were perfect clocks,
Paying no heed to squeaky talks,
The two mice let their hearts take lead,
They knew their fate, but paid no heed.
Trap and slip so many a time,
the thought of freedom to slave is crime,
But the mice, so drenched in their vice,
audacious as to bank on hope.
One day when they'll watch the drape,
through little holes they'll see the light,
thoughts will run as they gape,
They'll tell themselves, "Its worth a fight",
And that's when time will break their teeth,
And crush their spirit and tie their feet!
But don't you tell them of it now,
not much to say, they speak and how,
Please let them nibble to heart's content
The memory of a summer well spent.
And while we go back, to the perennial mime,
In the taut and tensile warp of time,
Nibbling, nibbling, go the mice,
Unaware we watch with jealousy blessed,
Giggling, giggling, go the mice.
